Free Seminar - Her Heart: Every Beat Counts
Saturday, February 13, 2010 To help educate women about their number one health risk, the SSM Heart Institute is hosting the “Her Heart: Every Beat Counts” education and screening day. The event takes place from 7:30 am to 1 pm, Saturday, Feb. 13, at Orlando Gardens Banquet Center, 8352 Watson Road in Webster Groves. The program is open to the public and free to attend. It features physician speakers, “Heart-Smart Stations,” drawings, giveaways and free breakfast and lunch. Sheila Stewart of St. Louis, a 34-year-old heart attack survivor and American Heart Association “Go Red for Women” ambassador, will share her personal experience with heart disease and how it’s changed her life. Additional presentations include: - “Crossroads of Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease,” Kiran Kancherla, MD, cardiologist - “Women and Heart Surgery,” Trevor Axford, MD, cardiovascular surgeon - “Do You Know Your EF? Understanding Your Ejection Fraction,” Dennis Glascock, DO, electrophysiologist Attendees have the opportunity to ask questions following each presentation and visit informational booths on topics ranging from diabetes and nutrition to chest pain and cardiac catheterization. Free blood pressure and body fat screenings are offered throughout the event. Cholesterol and glucose testing is available for a $5 fee. Appointments are required and screenings slots are limited.
