Robert Armbruster, MD
Robert Armbruster, MD has joined Advanced Heart and Vascular, the Cardiology group of Premier Medical Specialists. Dr. Armbruster is a board certified cardiologist specializing in Interventional Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Disease. He performs most diagnostic and interventional procedures through the wrist using the radial artery approach. Radial artery access has fewer complications and is the preferred access.
Dr. Armbruster is focused on the diagnosis and management of coronary and peripheral arterial disease as well as its many risk factors. In addition to performing interventional procedures, he also specializes in preoperative risk stratification for patients and their surgeons and is skilled in the interpretation of non-invasive cardiac imaging.
Dr. Armbruster is originally from St. Louis. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of science in chemistry from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended the School of Medicine at St. Louis University and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 2006. He remained at St. Louis University to complete an Internal Medicine residency, fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease, and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology.
In addition to his board certification in Cardiovascular Disease, he is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography. Dr. Armbruster has earned many honors, including Fellow of the Year Award, the J. Gerard Mudd Academic Achievement in Cardiology Award, and then Teacher of the Year Award while serving as a Clinical Instructor at St. Louis University. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Armbruster is a big sports fan, particularly of baseball and football. He enjoys traveling, and he has been to several different countries. He likes reading old classic books as well as (safe) motorcycle riding. As a certified barbecue judge for the Kansas City Barbecue Society, he always enjoys judging competitions.
Dr. Armbruster treats patients with a variety of cardiovascular diseases, providing clinical care, consultation and imaging services, and he performs cardiac catheterizations as well as coronary and peripheral interventional procedures. He sees patients at the Des Peres office location.
