Getting to Know . . .
Scott Barthelmass, Owner and President
The Scott Barthelmass Painting Company
Outstanding Customer Service, Quality Work, Talented Employees

The Scott Barthelmass Painting Company has earned its fine reputation – one job at a time - for the last 93 years. This highly respected, Kirkwood-based family owned and operated firm is being lead by Scott, a great-grandson of the founder.

Scott’s business is known for providing outstanding customer service, quality work and talented employees. They can handle every painting need, from commercial to residential, to new construction and rehabs. They have completed all sized jobs including churches, institutions, municipal buildings, even mansions and tiny dwellings.

“ I am pleased to introduce Ryan Schratz to the Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce members,” Scott proudly announced recently.

“Ryan was recently promoted to General Manager of The Scott Barthelmass Painting Company and is an example of the commitment to excellence we pride ourselves in having on our team. He’s customer-oriented, really enjoys interacting with the public, employees, vendors and everyone with whom he comes in contact.

“Like all success-driven companies, we must continue to grow, improve and adapt to the latest technology, products and services. It’s my hope that having Ryan assume the GM responsibilities will increase our reach to new markets.

”I believe we are very good at we do but we must continually monitor our efforts for possible improvement.”

Welcome Ryan Schratz
With Scott’s philosophy uppermost in the minds of all their employees, it’s no surprise the company continues to remain steadfast in its increasing growth trajectory. According to General Manager Ryan Schratz this is due to an unwavering focus on customer service. “For us, the top priority is making sure our customer is happy before leaving the job site. Even if we’ve already finished the job and the client didn’t realize there was something they want changed, all they need to do is give us a call and we go back to fix it.

“People know we stand by our work and we’ll be there for them.” It is the hallmark of the firm. “We have a number of military vets working for the company and they appreciate the opportunity to work here. We have great crews, made up of good people who share our commitment to superior customer relations.

“We’re always looking to grow and expand our market area. I am a big proponent of chambers of commerce, having witnessed how helpful they can be to business while I served as President of the Creve Coeur Chamber. I am planning to attend as many Kirkwood-Des Peres events as I possibly can – it’s a great place to network and enjoy the camaraderie.”

Ryan brings a bevy of impressive management and financial skills to the company.

He has a 7-year old son, Chase, an ardent Cardinal fan, who enjoys camping, fishing and all outdoor activities as much as his dad. Ryan lives in Kirkwood “on the edge of Barthelmass-ville.”
