A Flashback to childhood and I think about my Dad painting a rainbow on my bedroom wall. On the adjacent wall he painted half yellow and half green. I am one of seven girls, so it’s not like my Dad had a lot of time to create art. I never knew if my Dad had a real artistic flair, or if he was just using up some extra paint. He never painted any of the other rooms in the house like that. But, I’m not sure any of my sisters would’ve appreciated his artwork like I did. I think he was testing me, in a way! Maybe he was planting the seed.

So, when I would lay in bed and see these walls, it made me think about what I would do when I “break out of here“ and can paint my OWN walls! My Mom and Dad would let all of us decorate our rooms however we wanted; two sisters in each of the bedrooms upstairs, and three in the first floor bedroom. The three “little ones”, as we older sisters referred to them, never decorated. But the “older girls” upstairs had carte blanche….sort of. My parents weren’t too happy when my sister Joan used nails to hang posters on the wall, when tape would’ve worked fine. We didn’t paint the walls, but we were constantly moving the furniture around. Especially after watching “Leave it to Beaver” or “The Brady Bunch “ and seeing how their bedrooms were set up.

So, fast forward to 2014………..I can do whatever I want to my walls! And, luckily, I don’t have to run it past my sisters first…or my Mom and Dad! …..just my husband, Dave---and he’s easy!

So I paint to my heart’s content! There is no easier way to change a mood in a room than with paint! Color can be exciting, or restful, or classical, or just fun! Simple little decorative touches can transform the room.

When I started my business about 15 years ago, I had no idea I would love it as much as I do. I knew I love to paint, but the business end of it didn’t thrill me. But all of the information I’ve learned from the members I’ve met at the Chamber has allowed me to relax about some of the worries and concerns of business ownership. We are all in this together, seems to be the prevailing mantra.

I love painting for fellow Chamber members….and I love trading services, also. It’s a great feeling to know that my artwork can enhance your home or business, and that your business can be used in return. It’s a win-win. Plus, Chamber members receive a 10% discount on any painting. The painting can be on a wall, or on canvas.
