Job Summary:
The Executive Director is a visionary business development leader responsible for directing the chamber's financial operations, membership growth, and overall success. The two primary roles of this position revolve around financial success: membership growth (attraction, retention, and engagement) and sourcing sponsorships. Secondary roles include economic development initiatives, advocating for the special interests of our members, and building strong relationships with local government, business leaders, and the community at large.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Develop and manage the chamber's budget ensuring financial sustainability. Responsible for allocation of resources and leading fundraising efforts, including sponsorship acquisition and grant applications.
Membership Engagement:
Foster strong relationships with existing members and attract new members to grow the chamber. Provide exceptional member services and address their needs and concerns effectively.
Staff Leadership:
Recruit, train, and manage a dedicated team of chamber staff to meet and exceed organizational goals.
Board Relations:
Report to the Board of Directors, provide regular updates and collaborate to implement the chamber's vision.
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute a long-term strategic plan that aligns with the organization's mission and objectives. Lead the development of policies, programs, and initiatives to support members and the local business community.
Community Engagement:
Build and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations, educational institutions, and community leaders to support the chamber's objectives.
Event Planning and Execution:
Oversee and attend chamber events, including networking meetings and lunches that promote business growth and networking opportunities.
Advocacy and Government Relations:
Serve as the primary advocate for the chamber's members with local, regional, and state government entities. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that impact the business community and lobby for favorable outcomes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related field.
Proven leadership experience in a chamber of commerce, business association, or related organization. Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and fundraising. Exceptional communication, public speaking, and negotiation skills. Adept at building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders. Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative team environment. Strong understanding of economic development, government relations, and business advocacy. Demonstrated commitment to the local business community and economic development.
